Sail boat for sale

Matsya

1965 English Folkboat

Before

I’ve been interested in wooden boats my entire life. Now we live in times of plastic and fast consumption and people have no time to enjoy the real beauty or value of wooden hull so the wooden hulls become less popular as it was 30-40 years ago.

The old generation of wooden sailboat lovers has either already passed away or have no time and energy to take care of those old handmade sailboats so such boats either become abandoned or are left to the fate and turns into “flying dutchman”.

I have several wooden boats – from small motor boats to 18-20 feet long sailboats and I know how much time it requires to take care of the boat that you love and which takes you on a safe boat tour in archipelago or the sea.

I couldn’t just pass by when I saw this little wooden sailboat, the classic English folk boat, which was swinging on the water so lonely, so abandoned in some small bay in Sweden. So I decided to become an owner of this boat and took it to Lithuania.

The boat was fully renovated during October 2017 and Juni 2019. It was a lot of work that required a lot of patience and time, but the boat is in a very good shape now.

The sailboat Matsya is renovated with exceptional materials, the boat has stationary internal diesel engine Volvo Penta MDI which helps a lot when you end up in bad weather or just enjoy of calm and still boat tour in archipelago, which at the same time makes easier to moor the boat or maneuver in marina.

Due to the low sink of 1,2 meters the boat suites very well for both – sailing in the rivers, channels and the sea. That was already tested in the summer of 2019.

This is a quite exceptional sailboat which is moored marina of small resort town Nida in Lithuania and which has already become a pride of local marina. No one can pass by the boat without stopping and admiring it.

Unfortunately, due to some personal reasons I have to look for a new owner to my beloved sailboat, someone who would love and appreciate it as much as I do.

Renovation

The renovation started in the autumn of 2017. I thought it just would take some six months to renovate it. Instead it took almost two years.

All the boat parts were either renovated or replaced with a new ones, for example, the old keel was replaced with a new oak keel, the deck floor was replaced with oak boards, all the screws and bolts have been replaced with a new ones. The ceiling of the cabin was scrubbed, impregnated and repainted, all the metal parts were polished.

The entire electrical installation was remade, all the cables were replaced with new ones, the water system has been renovated either with new pipes or the existing ones were accurately cleaned.

I have renovated all the parts in cabin, the bed pads and cushions were changed to a new ones, have installed a new gas-stove and the sink, as well as ceiling fan which is powered by solar panels. All the wooden parts in the cabin are properly polished and repainted.

The fuel tank and ballast container have been cleaned, scrubbed and treated with anticorrosion material Epifanes Epoxy Primer. Besides I have installed a new water tank which connected to the sink.

The rudder is removed, oiled and set back again, mahogany tillers are reconstructed, installed new winches.

Despite the fact that Volvo Penta engine is produced in 1965 it’s very reliable. Both engine and gearbox are thoroughly renovated and works great.

The hull has been polished and impregnated several times with Owatrol D1, all inner wooden parts have been impregnated with Almol Pine Tar Lazure, the hull under the water line have been covered with epoxiprimer Epifanes Wood Primer Epoxy and Epifanes Self-polishing Antifouling Paint and the boat is prepared for several sailing seasons.

Entire rig, mast and the book are fully renovated, all the shots and .. are new, Genoa and Mainsail are in good shape.
